MastectoME Beauty Project
Welcome
The MastectoME Beauty Project is a 'not-for-profit' group of photographers and artists. It was the concept of makeup artist Anya Pogodzinska and was designed to help women who’ve undergone single or double mastectomy to feel beautiful. For each woman participating, we create a bespoke makeover and portrait experience with the use of makeup, body art and styling. We've been featured on BBC North West and in several publications too.

The MastectoME Beauty Project was designed to help women who’ve undergone single or double mastectomy to feel beautiful. For each woman participating, we create a bespoke makeover and portrait experience with the use of makeup, body art and styling.
With our expertise in the cosmetics industry and photography paired with passion for finding beauty and uniqueness in every woman, we are approaching the difficult subject of mastectomy and bringing joy and empowerment to women who've undergone this surgery.

What MastectoME Does
We offer this wonderful service free of charge to all the participants. We spend a full day working with each woman to make it an empowering and uplifting experience.
There's many hours of work we do behind the scenes too. From designing the concept and making props to the information gathered at the consultation.
We plan the best lighting and backdrops to suit the theme, edit the images and put together a gallery for each participant to download and share with their family and friends.
MastectoME Support Group
We provide a private Facebook group where the participants can share their experiences, and of course their photographs. The group offers inspiration and motivation to the women who are waiting for their own photoshoot experience.
The MastectoME Process
All candidates have undergone their surgery. When they signed up to take part in the project, they completed a questionnaire that allows us to get to know them a little better. The questionnaire is followed by video consultation where we discuss and tailor the design to best represent them and their level of comfort. The majority of the women haven't opted for reconstructive surgery.
Each portrait captures their own unique story by using colour, styling and props and each participant will receive a fine art print as a memento of their day. View our portfolio.

How you can Support MastectoME
Become an Ambassador for the MastectoME Beauty Project.
It costs us approximately £500 to provide each MastectoME Beauty experience. Between us it takes a week to produce the finished result for each participant.
Your donations will help to fund our MastectoME Beauty Project. Our costs include: Makeup and hairstyling products, art supplies, fabric and props, studio running costs, printing, marketing, merchandise, transport, lunch and refreshment for each participant.
