My magical forest fairy photo shoot with Art of the Fairytale.
I love everything whimsy and fae and live to be amongst the trees at one with nature. So, when it was time for my photo shoot, I wanted to embody that. In December 2017, I was diagnosed with breast cancer, at only 37, it was a massive shock. Ultimately a full mastectomy was my only option! Reconstruction to begin with was successful unfortunately I developed breast implant illness. The pain of this was worse than the cancer. So, I made the decision to go flat. Although this was an extremely painful experience. I am now able to give people in the same position give an informed, lived experience of what the implants are like. I'm a mum first, before all else, so being as healthy as I could came before body image and looks. I just wanted to be here for my beautiful daughters! Going flat has given me that, and surprisingly I love it. The freedom and the need to never wear a bra again is one of my favourite parts of my whole journey. A massive thank you must go to Lorna and Lorraine of Art the fairy, for making my vision come to life and making me feel so empowered. Allowing me to feel so relaxed in front of the camera. Ending with me loving having pictures taken, something I never thought I'd say. Cancer sucks but you can still be a fantastical whimsy forest fairy even with no breasts! I feel the most feminine and happy with my body I ever have! It's not the end it's just a new beginning.
